Knicks star Julius Randle was recently fined $15K for chucking the basketball into the fans in joy after the Knicks defeated the rival Boston Celtics in a double-OT thriller.
The matchup took place Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden… and Randle went off, scoring 35 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out nine assists.
Randle flung the ball from one end of the court, high into the air, and into the stands past the opposition basket as the clock winded down on the nail-biter of a game.
Unfortunately, the NBA was not in the mood to rejoice, and they fined Julius $15,000. “New York Knicks forward Julius Randle has been fined $15,000 for throwing the game ball into the spectator stands,” Byron Spruell, President of League Operations announced on Thursday.
But don’t be too hard on JR… he signed a four-year, $117 million contract extension this offseason, which means he makes more than $250,000 each game. Still… NBA, lighten up.
