At the Tokyo Olympics, Australian canoeist Jessica Fox discovered a perfectly stretchable, waterproof material for a boat repair: a condom.
Fox, who won a bronze medal in women’s kayak slalom and a gold medal in canoe slalom, released a video of someone repairing the nose of her boat on social media this week.

Before using the condom, a gooey carbon mixture is applied to hold it in place. “Bet you never knew condoms could be used for canoe repairs,” she wrote, adding: “Very stretchy. Much strong.”
Fox, who is 27 years old, is the world’s best canoe and kayak paddler and the first woman to win an Olympic women’s canoe slalom competition.
