Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has assured party members that their governance record far surpasses that of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch in the Western Region on Sunday, August 18, Dr. Bawumia urged NPP supporters to have confidence in the party’s achievements as they gear up for the 2024 elections.
He highlighted the NPP administration’s significant accomplishments in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and digital transformation. He cited key initiatives like the Free Senior High School policy, the One District One Factory policy, and the digitalisation of public services as evidence of the NPP’s dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that these achievements clearly demonstrate the NPP’s superior governance compared to the opposition.
He also pointed to the NPP’s management of the economy during global crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and rising inflation, as proof of the party’s resilience and ability to navigate challenging times.
Despite economic difficulties, Dr. Bawumia noted that the NPP government has consistently implemented policies aimed at alleviating hardship and promoting economic recovery.
He criticized the NDC for failing to deliver on promises made while in office, particularly regarding issues like power shortages and economic instability—problems that the NPP has since addressed.
He urged NPP members to emphasize these achievements when engaging with voters in the lead-up to the elections.
Dr. Bawumia concluded by calling for unity and dedication within the party as they prepare for the 2024 elections, urging all members to stay focused and committed to securing victory for the NPP.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, if there was any doubt, I believe it is crystal clear from the data-backed account we have given that our overall performance and track record are superior to that of my opponent and his party in virtually every sector! But, I believe as a former president and a proud student of history, he knows that and that is one part of the reason why he is avoiding a debate.
The other part, of course, is about the courage and confidence to put what he intends to do differently this time around with the power he seeks, side by side with the vision I have for Ghana and the clear roadmap to getting the work done. That is the choice we are presenting to you, the Ghanaian voter, on December 7.”
