Parliament is set to reconvene for the fifth meeting of its fourth session on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). This temporary relocation is necessary due to ongoing renovations in the main parliamentary chamber.
In a statement signed by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and issued on September 30, 2024, Members of Parliament were formally informed of the reconvening for the upcoming meeting.
Prior to this, Parliament held a two-day emergency sitting at the Dome, during which it approved a $250 million loan agreement with the World Bank. The loan is intended to support Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme. This agreement, which had initially been rejected before Parliament went on recess, was a major reason for the recall of the House on September 3, 2024.
The loan facility is aimed at tackling challenges in Ghana’s energy sector, focusing on improving financial sustainability and operational efficiency, which are vital for the country’s overall economic stability.
