President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will inaugurate several hospital projects today, December 5, 2024, as part of the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative, aimed at expanding healthcare infrastructure across Ghana and improving access to quality medical services.
The inauguration will feature the commissioning of the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital in Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both located in the Ashanti Region. These facilities are among the 111 district and specialized hospitals planned under the initiative.
Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health, underscored the comprehensive nature of the projects, highlighting the inclusion of modern units, advanced medical equipment, and skilled personnel.
“We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency center, neonatal and pediatric units, maternity facilities, OPD, pharmacy, X-ray, laboratory, and more. Each hospital also includes specialized departments such as eye, dental, and ENT units, alongside consulting rooms and public health units,” he explained.
The Agenda 111 initiative is a cornerstone of President Akufo-Addo’s strategy to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system by reducing patient overcrowding and enhancing health outcomes nationwide.
Today’s inauguration represents a significant milestone in advancing this vision, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the country.
