Professor of economics at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Professor Peter Quartey has stated that the foundation of the National Development Bank will emphatically affect the development of the economy if government neglects to apply legitimate business the board in its operations.

The foundation of the bank which has been essential for government’s arrangements since 2018 is set to begin operations in July 2021 after governments’ capacity to raise the necessary seed capital of more than 500 million dollars.

As per Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, the bank will renegotiate credit to industry and horticulture as a discount bank; and additionally, give ensure instruments to urge widespread banks to loan to the particular areas.

In a meetings, Prof. Peter Quartey said government should give a valiant effort for the bank to run successfully

“Interestingly, the cash has been discovered, what I will prescribe is tracking down the ideal individuals to deal with this bank. On the off chance that it is run as a business, Ghana will be in a superior spot yet on the off chance that we accept it as the same old thing, and we don’t recruit the skillful and correct individuals then it will be hard to oversee, credits will be made, yet we won’t recuperate these advances so the National Development Bank is something that I support, in any case, it ought to be controlled by capable individuals when that is done we will absolutely receive the drawn-out rewards”.
