Railway Minister, Peter Amewu Volta Rail Bridge To Be Completed In August

Minister of Railway Development John Peter Amewu has indicated that the Volta Rail Bridge project is going to be completed in August this year.

The Volta Rail Bridge will connect Senchi to Mpakadan within the eastern region, over Volta Lake.

Driven 76 meters deep into the world to take a seat on the bedrock of the lake are piers which will support the 340-meter long bridge.

According to Mr. Amewu, work might be completed before the scheduled completion date.

“Construction of the bridge is predicted to be completed in August this year to be used ,” he said.

The Volta Rail Bridge is a component of the Tema-Mpakadan railway line.
The 99-kilometer line which costs $230 million is predicted to be completed in November 2021.

The sector minister who inspected some portions of the work on Tuesday, April 13, stated the

Tema-Mpakadan railway line is 70- 80 percent complete.

John Peter Amewu underscored the socio-economic importance of the railway line. “When completed, the rail system is predicted to extend Ghana’s GDP by some 2 to three percent”, consistent with the minister.

The second phase of the project is that the Mpakadan-Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso railway line which consistent with the minister, contraction will begin in 2022.
