Review the 1992 constitution to empower; CPP-Tema Central Constituency Chairman

Tema, September 1st.  Mr. Selasi Koffi Ackom, Tema Central Constituency Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has called for immediate review of the 1992 Constitution of the republic of Ghana to enable the CPP become relevant political party to Ghanaians.

According to the constituency chairman who also doubles as the special aide to the immediate past national chairman & leader of the CPP, Naa Professor Edmund Delle and also an aide-decamp during the administration of the daughter of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah; Hon. Samia Yaba Nkrumah, the 1992 constitution appears to have been targeted at the Convention Peoples Party by making it irrelevant to Ghanaians.

‘it took a class action by  some prominent members of  the party to reclaim the name CPP as a recognized political party from the law court to contest 1996 elections why so’ he asked.

Mr. Ackom further explained that, the state have ceased  properties which were built to assist the operations of the CPP saying it was time the state release such properties back to the CPP

‘The building housing the information Ministry, Sunyani Police head quarters and some other properties dotted across the country belongs to CPP, built by  Dr.Kwame Nkrumah but have been ceased’ he lamented.

The Constituency chairman further revealed that, the CPP was struggling to raise funds to pay for the office it occupying claiming it was affecting the party’s operations.

He further explain that, the 1992 constitution has dents in it quoting some conventions and NLC decrees 119,112 which according to him was   as deliberate attempt by the framers of the constitution  to destroy the Conventions people party.

‘The Convention Peoples party stands a better chance of winning future elections as it was the only party to bring prosperity and progress to the people of Ghana under the leadership of Dr.Nkrumah’ he noted.

The party on 22 August   conducted it national delegate conference to elect Mr. Ivor Kwabena Greenstreet as its flag bearer for the December 17 general election and other National executives.
