Rwanda and Botswana have entered into six cooperation accords aimed at strengthening relations and expanding joint efforts in important sectors such as trade, transportation, and regional integration.
During the state visit of Rwandan President Paul Kagame to Botswana, President Duma Boko said the growing partnership demonstrates a common vision for progress and exchange of ideas between the two countries.
“Botswana has much to gain from Rwanda, and Botswana also has valuable experiences to share with Rwanda,” Boko stated. “Our extensive discussions in sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture and food security, youth empowerment, sports, job creation, infrastructure, and regional connectivity show the need for closer cooperation.”
Kagame explained that the agreements are intended to ease investment challenges and improve collaboration in practical areas between both nations.
“What shapes the bond between Rwanda and Botswana is more than friendship; it is a common purpose,” Kagame said. “This can be seen in how we cooperate and pursue practical results in areas including air transport, visa facilitation, and double taxation. The goal is to eliminate barriers and establish a more stable environment for investment and partnership.”
The newly concluded agreements focus on sectors such as aviation, tourism, education, transport, and agriculture. Kagame’s trip is among the first official state visits hosted by President Boko since assuming office, highlighting Botswana’s efforts to broaden its diplomatic and economic ties across the African continent.
