The three other ex-Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd’s death have been charged with aiding and abetting a murder in the second degree. Additionally, ex-officer Derek Chauvin’s charge has been upgraded to second-degree murder.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced the new charges against Chauvin, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng during a press conference on Wednesday (June 3).

All four officers were seen restraining Floyd in the horrifying video of his fatal arrest, while Chauvin kneeled down on his neck for over eight minutes, despite his please for air. While Chauvin was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on Friday (May 29) — four days after Floyd’s death — protestors have been demanding the arrest of the Thao, Lane and Kueng in nationwide rallies for over a week.

Additionally, Derek Chauvin’s charge has been upgraded to second-degree murder.
