US President Donald Trump says he hopes the temporary truce will lead to a long-term deal to end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, starting Saturday.
Russia had previously announced a two-day unilateral ceasefire to mark its May 9 World War II Victory Day on Saturday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that in addition to the truce, Kyiv and Moscow also agreed to a prisoner exchange deal.
Zelenskyy has already signed a decree concerning arrangements for the military parade in Moscow on May, 9. It specifies that Ukrainian military operations will be suspended in the Red Square area for the duration of the parade.
