Vodafone (NASDAQ: VOD), a British telecommunications company, is apparently planning to auction the world’s first Short Message Service (SMS) as a nonfungible token (NFT) on December 21.

Richard Jarvis, a Vodafone employee at the time, got the “Merry Christmas” SMS 29 years ago on December 3, 1992, across the Vodafone network.

According to Romanian news outlet Ziarul Financiar, the historic 15- character SMS will be auctioned off as an NFT at the Aguttes Auction House in France.
