Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Finance, Dr. John Kumah, has passed away at the age of 45. The Member of Parliament for Ejisu died early on Thursday, March 7, following a brief illness.

Dr. Kumah is remembered as a committed family man, survived by his wife, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, and their six children.

His significant contributions include serving as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), where he played a pivotal role in elevating NEIP’s status within Ghana’s entrepreneurship landscape.

During his tenure, NEIP successfully trained 7,000 startups in 2018 through the Presidential Business Support Programme and offered financial assistance to 1,350 beneficiaries.

Before joining the government, Dr. Kumah co-founded and served as Managing Partner of Aduaprokye Chambers, a prominent law firm, and established Majak Associates Ltd, a notable building and construction company.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Kumah was esteemed for his academic accomplishments, including a Doctorate in Business Innovation from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland and a Masters in Applied Business Research.

He also obtained an Executive Masters’ degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Dr. Kumah began his academic journey at the University of Ghana, earning Bachelor’s degrees in Economics with Philosophy and Law, subsequently being admitted to the Ghana Bar in 2013.
