The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a 46-year-old Ghanaian woman at the Swissport consolidated cargo section of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for possessing cannabis concealed in cargo.
The arrest occurred on Tuesday night after NACOC operatives, acting on intelligence, intercepted packages consigned to the suspect.
Upon inspection, officers discovered 30 slabs of compressed cannabis, weighing 16.40 kilograms, hidden among personal effects.
The woman was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting with investigations, according to officials. The illicit substance has been seized and is undergoing further examination.
NACOC reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking through enhanced intelligence operations and collaborative enforcement at Ghana’s ports of entry.
