Nokia establishes Egypt as its regional centre for MEA operations

Nokia has opted for Egypt as its central support base for the Middle East and Africa region, setting up a unified operations centre in Cairo to handle customer assistance and network services across multiple markets.

This development comes at a time when telecom providers and businesses are facing increasing network demands driven by 5G rollout, wider cloud integration, and rapidly growing data usage. These changes have intensified the need for flexible support systems that ensure uninterrupted service and quicker response times.

From Cairo, the new hub will support various Nokia divisions, including Global Services and Operations, Network Infrastructure, and Mobile Infrastructure. The company explained that the facility is intended to simplify workflows, cut down operational complexity, and enhance service delivery through a more integrated regional structure.

With support functions brought together in one location, Nokia expects improved coordination across time zones and stronger collaboration between its teams and customers. This, according to the company, should lead to faster problem-solving and a more reliable customer experience across different markets.

Mikko Lavanti, Nokia’s President for the Middle East and Africa, said the move reflects strong confidence in Egypt as a growing technology centre in the region.

“By centralising our support operations in Cairo, we are strengthening our ability to deliver high-quality, efficient services to our customers while leveraging the exceptional talent and capabilities available in the country,” he stated.

The company pointed to Egypt’s strategic geographic position, expanding digital ecosystem, and skilled workforce as major reasons behind the selection.

Beyond service delivery, the hub is expected to improve resource efficiency and help standardise operational practices across the region.

This decision also reflects a wider trend among global technology firms, which are increasingly establishing regional centres in locations with strong talent availability and geographic advantages to boost efficiency and support ongoing digital transformation.
